Providing tools to build understanding about medical devices Encore Medical, a Texas-based manufacturer of orthopedic implants, wanted to help surgeons educate potential patients about the latest advances in joint replacement. The health care and medical device team at Padilla Speer Beardsley developed specialized toolkits containing detailed information and useful tools to help surgeons gain local awareness and publicity for knee and shoulder replacement surgery, as well as about minimally invasive orthopedic surgery. The kits included sample press releases and print ads, patient-education brochures and presentations, and information about the latest products and technologies for referring physicians. Surgeons have successfully used the toolkits to generate stories in hometown newspapers, conduct patient seminars and educate their patients. Many report that the information has helped them more effectively answer patients' questions about the devices and joint replacement surgery. |
